Coffee Art

Ok I have to own up, I'm not a coffee fan. I love my tea and juices and I always seem to end up getting headaches from drinking coffee. so I stay away from it, but whenever I see someone get served with coffee with a gorgeous design on top. It just makes me want to have the first sip. xD as if the picture makes it taste any better but really how can you not love it!

The experience of getting a decorated coffee even if it's not me, really sparks my interest!
There's even coffee art schools that teach you the skills of these arts ._. so cool.
If you're interested you can find heaps of videos on youtube on coffee art, like the link below I found.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Flw80lPoa5Y <-- don't know who to add youtube videos to posts =P
Even though that video makes it seem so effortless, I'm sure it takes skill and practice!

Me, being a huge Anime fan. this is far most my favourite of all I've seen =P
It's Kiki in Kiki's Delivery Service. One of the films in the famous Studio Ghibli Collection.
This picture isn't new, I mean it's been around for a long time and all over the internet. LOL it's done so well! Just compare it

I love Hayao Miyazaki's works! I've nearly watched all of it <3, For those of you who don't know, it's the same author of Spirited Away which was a big hit, I'm sure you would've heard of it, and his most recent works Howls Moving Castle and Tales from Earthsea. All of them together create the Studio Ghibli Collection

That's all for my bit of randomness. ^^

Review: JURLIQUE Lavender Silk Dust

JURLIQUE Lavender Silk Dust 8g 0.3wt.oz
An exquisite silky translucent powder, with a subtle Lavender fragrance, that absorbs oil and perspiration to give your face and body a luxurious matte finish.
Directions: Apply lightly to face and neck area with fingers or brush

(info below taken from: http://multifacetedcosmetics.com/2008/02/10/jurlique-lavender-silk-dust/)
The oil controlling face powder in this Australian beauty line is pale and white enough to scare off any person with tanned to brown skin. But – surprise! – the powder is translucent if used with a light hand. It keeps the face shine free amazingly well.
According to cosmetic lore, the rose version is best for dry skins and the lavender one works best on combo to oily skins. Be careful, though, corn starch and silica can clog pores on some skins. This caused blackheads to develop on my face when I used it. Try before you buy.

Ingredients: Corn Starch, Rice Starch, Silica, Lavender Oil; Herbal Extract Mixture from Calendula, Arnica, Witch Hazel, Daisy, Sage, Rosemary; Orris; Lauroyl Lysine, Rose oil.

I have combination skin and this is one of my favourite products; it’s a powder that controls the oily sheen on your face giving it a matt finish. The powder is very fine with a beautiful light lavender scent and goes on translucent.
The packaged in a white glass jar with a plastic lid; the container is pretty heavy. Not the most convenient to take out. You do need to reapply once if you’ve been out all day and especially in summer.

So what I do is I use a powder brush to apply. Picking up a small amount with the brush, blending it on the lid so there is an evenly around of powder spread out on the brush. Make sure you tap off the excess to avoid getting any powder over your clothes. Like all loose powders it does get everywhere if you’re not careful. Then brush it on my face. I have tried using it with my fingers however I found it harder to control the amount on my face. Often getting too much on certain areas and none on others, also it gets very messy. Your skin does appear noticeably whiter if you apply too much until it sets in. Also if you use this after mascara, avoid getting it on your lashes because it will leave yours lashes appear a dusty grey.

It really does control the oil, I’ve noticed my face stays matt longer without needing to blot or touch up even in summer. I love how light it is and absolutely feel like you have nothing on. I usually use this over sunscreen/BB Cream/anything that leaves my skin looking shiny or foundation before blush. I apply slightly more to the T-zone area where it usually gets really shiny. I have not experienced it clogging my pores, break outs or more blackheads from using this. (Although according to the site where I got the ingredients from. I may clog pores etc ~see above~ So yes do try it out first if you're concerned.) I don’t suggest your sniffing the powder though =P or any type of loose powders... lol

This is definitely one of my HG. It also comes in a Rose Silk Dust for dry skin. I have not tried Jurlique’s range of silk finishing powders yet so can’t make a comparison between the two. The Silk Finishing Powders comes in: Citrus, Rose and Lavender.

editted: fixed the spelling and grammar errors I noticed. lol =P

Missha: The Style Dual Eye Tip Swatches

I swatched all of The Style Dual Eye Tip that were available at Missha the other day. There was actually a very good range in the shop a total of 8 colours.
(if the website is listed according to recent releases first then the newest releases are GR, GL and CR, followed by WH, PK, then VL , BL , BE.)

(image and info from http://www.missha.com.au, photoshopped by mint)
- 0.5g * 25 ml
- Eye shadow & Eye liner in one.
- Apply base color with tip part and create defined line with eye liner on the other end.
- Multi eye makeup item for quick makeup.
- Clings to the skin and creates glistening eye makeup with shimmering pearl.

Caution on packaging: For external use only. Do not swallow. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes.
Against Animal Testing.

Packaging: Approximately 13.5cm in length, with a turn cap for the shadow (sponge tip) and the usually pull cap for the eyeliner (Automatic Eyeliner type). Plastic in recyclable 7.

Sorry about the awful photo, it was a cloudy that day and it got too dim without flash and the colours were washed out with flash on. =( I’ve swatched the Shadow end on the left and liner on the right.
  • GR01: Pale green shimmery shadow, Moss green liner

  • GL01: Yellow-Gold shimmery shadow, Dark brown liner

  • PK01: Pastel pale pink shimmery shadow, Darker pastel pink liner

  • BL01: Pastel blue shimmery shadow, Baby blue liner

  • VL01: Suppose to be purple/violet although the colours looks much more like a hot pink shimmery shadow, Reddish pink liner.

  • WH01: Shimmery white shadow and liner.

  • BE01: Shimmery beige shadow, Light brown liner.

  • CR01: Orangey red shimmery shadow, Med brown liner.

After 1 hour, the paler colours started to fade the glittery particulars going all over the back of my hand. GR, GL, CR stands out the most.

Removal: All the shadows washes off easily with tap water, PK01, BL01, VL01, WH01 liners also wash with off normal water. GR01, GL01, BE01, CR01 stays on longer although faded, washes off with normal hand soap.

My personal favourite colours: GL01 and BE01.

Love Package

My package from the lovely NingStar (http://nlng-beautyworld.blogspot.com) finally arrived early this week. Took just under a week for it to get mailed so that’s pretty fast. Although it felt really long for me after I was told it got mailed xD lol, I was so excited. It’s the first giveaway I’ve ever won, she’s so sweet she’s also thrown in some extra goodies, face/eye mask, some yummy lollies and a love note <3 The necklaces were beautiful, I kept one and gave the one to my sister =3. I’m surprised the customs didn’t open this package for quarantine like they did with my last one.

I’m so happy with the mask, I don’t usually buy sheet mask for myself because I move around too much when I have them on. LOL Normally I go for ones in tubs and tubes and being lazy me I don’t use them too often =P (mostly in summer when my face starts feeling sweaty and hot Dx) so I’m really looking forward to trying these ones out. There’s a Beauty Diaries Q10 Rejuvenating Mask, Intensive Rice-Peptides Mask and 2 eye brightening mask from YiSiXue. My eye area’s so under nourished so they’re gonna be great!

NingStar’s got a great review on her huge collection of Beauty Diaries Masks that’s really worth checking out on her blog.

Am over the moon ^0^

The Aroma Festival + Mini Haul

I was at the Aroma Festival yesterday, a lot of people! It was at The Rocks, there was just stands after stands of coffee types and tea, snacks xD. Although long lines in a lot of peoples which kind of put me off waiting for food, etc. It was pretty good, although I must say I was slightly disappointed at how at commercial it appeared. Overall it was pretty cool =3, didn't end up buying anything though...

What it's about, Click to enlarge:

Anyway, I stopped by Missha on the way back. Those of you who read my review on Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion 2 would know I’m out of toners. So I took this chance to try out another one. I’ve always been quite interested in their products. Maybe it’s the beautiful packaging ^0^ although I remember using their Deep Sea Water range, a pore tightening serum. I thought it was ok.
- The Style Dual Eye Tip BE01
- SUPER AQUA Anti-Trouble Formula Control Toner
- SUPER AQUA Hydrating Toner (Sample)
- SUPER AQUA Hydrating Emulsion (Sample)
- M Perfect Cover BB Cream No.23 (SPF 42 PA+++) (Sample)

I really wasn’t sure which one was more suitable for me since all their labels sounded very similar. So I had to ask the attendant that was there. I was looking at these three types,
- SUPER AQUA Anti-Trouble Formula Control Toner
- SUPER AQUA Pore Clarifying Toner
- SUPER AQUA Hydrating Toner (For Normal to Dry Skin)
I told her I wanted something hydrating which she then said Hydrating Toner would be the one. It'll lock in the moisture and to use it before moisturizer. Lol, although she then said she would see my skin’s a bit red and asked what kind of skin type I was and if I was sensitive, I told her yea said it was combination. So she started saying she would recommend the Control toner because that one is fragrance free and alcohol free. Hydrating Toner on the other hand does have a small amount of alcohol and fragrance to it. So it’ll be more suitable for my skin type. So yea I went with what she recommended, also picked up Missha’s dual eye tip, which is an eyeliner and shadow in beige 01. I was really pleased when she popped in the SUPER AQUA hydrating toner and hydrating emulsion samples for me to try. Also a packet of M Perfect Cover BB Cream. Score always wanted to try them out!

The AU missha websites says there’s an M Perfect Cover BB Cream No.21 (SPF 42 PA+++). Maybe the shade difference... I hope the sample packet she gave me matches my skin tone.

I stopped by The Body Shop the other day and picked up this card, the attendants write down what they used on your face when they do a makeover on you I think. But what I really wanted was the section about makeup brushes.

I mean for me, someone who's still very new to makeup. I read a lot of about from magazines, online and recently from these beauty blogs but still lack actual experience applying it on my face. hehe
I found this is helpful. So posting a picture of it here.
Their brushes were quite good quality, very soft full bristles. =)

*Click to enlarge. please excuse all my shocking pictures, old camera =/ *

My internet's being a pain too. very low u.u makes it so hard to read blogs and post. I'll post my mini haul tomorrow. getting late Dx.

Review: Natio Renew Radiance Eye Cream

Natio Renew Radiance Eye Cream (10mL 0.34fl oz)

- Brightens the delicate eye contour area. Pomegranate Vitamin C Diminish the look of fine lines, dark circles.

Directions: Gently dab on the eye contour area.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (Stabilised Vitamin C), Squalane, Ceteth-20, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer; Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Retinyl Palmitate, Punica Granatum (Pomergranate) Extract, Allantoin, Bisabolol, Styrax Benzoin (Benzoin Tincture) Gum, Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Tetrasodium EDTA, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hydroxide, Mica.

This eye cream’s in a very thin shimmery lotion consistency, with a very light fragrance if you sniff it. Otherwise there’s no smell to it. It’s in a simple tube packaging which makes it easy to use and good for travelling. What I so is I put a tiny amount on my ring finger and tap it around under my eyes.

Short review today, there’s really not much to say about this product. I’ve only used this for a week. Although I know these kinds of products you do need to use it for a period of time before you there’s a noticeable difference. I have used this product now and then in the past but sometimes it’s caused a breakout on where I dabbed the cream. So I’ll stopped using it until it healed, am suspecting it to be clogging my pores or not suitable for my skin.

So far I have not noticed any different to my dark circles or fine lines. It doesn’t seem to hydrate at all and leaves a sticky residue on the skin. The tiny shimmers are visible on the surface of my skin but don’t really brighten. I also find a slightly shiny strip where I used this eye cream.

It won’t do this product justice if I was to claim it unless; due to the short time I used it consistently. But I personally don’t feel it’s suitable for me and don’t plan on using it anymore.

Review: Cameleon 36 Color Eyeshadow Palette

Cameleon Makeup Collection – 36 Color Professional Eyeshadow Palette. Net WT 1 27oz (36g)

Desciption: 36 Color Professional Eye shadow Palette to be used with professional brushes and applicators. Use with multiple colors to give multiple effect and elegant touch to eyes and cheeks to enhance the face. Use dry and wet for different effect.

Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Kaolin, Octyl Palmitate, Vaseline, Mineral Oil, Lanolin, Magnesium Stearate, Propylparaben, Methylparaben.

May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Manganese Violet, FD & C Blue No.1 Aluminium Lake, Ultramarine Pink, Iron Oxides, FD & C Red No.40 Aluminium Lake, FD & C Yellow No. 5 Aluminium Lake, Chromium Oxide Greens Pearl Powder.

I bought this one from Sasa.com with other people; we pooled to get free shipping. When I saw this online it looked really good. Mainly because I don't have a palette with an extensive range of colours and this was only $7.20USD (36 colours compact palette with mirror and 2 sponge applicators). Of course I skimmed through the reviews posted on there first, since I’ve never see this brand before and the comments were fairly positive. So here I am with it now =P
I was surprised when I saw it. It’s a lot smaller than I imagined. Its dimensions are approximately (W x L x H) 7.3 x 16.3 x 1.8cm. Very simple packaging, smooth shiny black plastic with silver text. Somewhat hard to open but I expect the plastic to wear out with use, there’s also a clear protective plastic sheet between the mirror and palette. Each shadow is in 1.2x1.5cm oval size (diameter approximate); I don’t how deep the actually shadow pan is.

Second thing I noticed was the smell. It was awful! The fumes were incredibly strong and chemical like. I put a ribbon spray with perfume in to see if it’ll help and the potent smell seemed to ease slightly. After that I placed a paper towel spray with perfume in overnight and it’s getting better. =P

In terms of colours, quiet sheer colours, average pigmentation but there are some beautiful shades. Not very shimmery, quiet subtle and more of a metallic feel, darker shades don’t have much shimmer to it at all. I don’t know if you can see from the photo but there’s quite a few shades that very similar to another. So I’m a little disappointed there aren’t exactly 36 different colours. The shadow spreads easily and relatively even with a few exceptions like the darkest blue and some of the pinks, blends pretty well.

It’s pretty good for that price, very affordable. However do take note of the size of the palette it's pretty tiny. Although perfect if you want to use it to practice, experiment with colours or just to play with. I haven’t worn it out so don’t know if it smudges, fades, creases or its durability. I like it but it isn’t the best; there are a lot better eye shadow palettes on the market.

Review: Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2

Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 - Dry Combination (dry in the cheeks, comfortable to oily in the T-zone)

Product description: The difference maker Gentle exfoliating lotion developed by dermatologists for skins dry in the cheeks, comfortable to oily in the T-Zone. Deflakes skin’s surface to smooth, reveal clearer skin. Optimizes cell turnover, protects natural moisture balance. The tingle tells you it’s working. Apply with cotton ball to face /throat twice daily. Follow with Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion.
CAUTION: Flammable. For external use only. Avoid eye area.

Ingredients: alcohol denat, water (aqua purificata) purified, witch hazel (hamamelis virginiana), glycerine, menthol, sodium borate, ext. D & c violet no.2 (ci607030), d & c red no.33 (ci17200), d & c red no.6 (ci15850) [iln3714]

It’s a bottle fill with a lilac colour liquid that smells like alcohol. It’s used after cleansing and before moisturizer to help remove the dead skin on the surface of your skin; some people say toners are also meant to remove any residue of cleansers and dirt that’s been left behind... I can’t tell whether it does optimize cell turnover or protects natural moisture balance, but it do notice the difference on days when I skip it. It does smooth my skin and it appears brighter. The exfoliator gives a cool tingling sensation on your face and persists for a short while. Not unpleasant if your skin is not sensitive and you do not need to use a lot.

One thing I need to point out is, do not use this on broken and especially not sensitive skin. When I’ve tried it and instead of tingling, it stung and my skin started going red. So I washed my face immediately and I could still feel sore and stingy afterwards. Not nice.

Which I then bought Clinique's toner for sensitive skin; it was recommended by the lady at the Clinique counter. I think was in a clear or opaque bottle, with blue liquid but not 100% sure. I was told it only comes in 200mL. That one was very gentle although strangely it doesn’t feel like it’s doing much on the skin. A few months later when I finished that bottle, I tried this Clarifying Lotion 2 again and it felt fine. =P I actually really like Clarifying Lotion 2, I can’t remember the exactly name I used prior to Clinique, I do remember using Garnier, Nivea, Clean&Clear, Artistry and Biotherm. This is definitely something I would buy again.

Clinique's Clarifying Lotion is classed as exfoliators under their website.
“Step 2 in Clinique's 3-Step Skin Care System-and the difference-maker for great skin. Gentle exfoliating lotion developed by Clinique's dermatologists de-flakes to reveal clearer skin. Smooths the way for moisture. Formulas for oilier skin help sweep away oil, maintain clearer skin.”

Recent Haul + blog giveaways

Here's my recent hauls, I really shouldn't be buying too much stuff but I just couldn't resist >.< .
- TheFaceShop Green tea Blackhead remover gommage pack
- TheFaceShop Smooth Seaweed Pack
- TheFaceShop Stylist Hair Wax Wonder Setting
- TheFaceShop Eco-Therapy Cleansing Foam Sample (free)
- Moroha Eyeliner (Black and Pink)
- Cameleon 36 Color Professional Eyeshadow Palette
- Manicare Eyeshadow Applicators PK12
